Taproot Concert Review
By Lisa

Date: July 26, 2003
Location: Webster Theatre - Hartford, CT
Bands: Taproot, Social Burn

The lights go down low, and the crowd is chanting at the top of their lungs: "Taproot, Taproot, Taproot". As the guys take the stage the crowd goes crazy. They start off by doing a few of their older songs, before playing 'Breathe' from their new release "Welcome". After the first few songs, one of the opening bands, Social Burn, decide to come on stage and have a drink with the band since it's their last show with Taproot. All in good fun, the crowd cheers as they drink up. Taproot then continues their set by playing 'Mine' and 'Dreams'. Social Burn once again decides to invade the Taproot set by throwing three bags of marshmallows out into the crowd and onto the stage. As a result, Steve (Taproot's frontman) got a few thrown at his head. All in good fun, he couldn't stop laughing to sing. With nerves of steel, Steve then decides to walk around the Webster and me (being lucky) got to touch his hand, he walked around the crowd and then through it, singing. (Brave, brave man.) During the last 40 minutes or so of their set, he decides that he's going to let the crowd choose the last few songs for them to play. The crowd decides on 'Emotional Times' off of one of their first albums and 'Fault' off of their new album. After they played a minute or so of each of those songs, they played 'Poem'. As Steve started to sing the first verse, he paused and let the crowd finish it, and sing most of the chorus. Thanking the crowd and stating that coming to Hartford for them is like "partying with our friends", Taproot left the stage. The concert ended around midnight, and I have to admit that this morning a few of my body parts are killing me.
