Well, because this is my first official cd review, I thought it would be appropriate for me to review Skarmy of Darkness’s newest release, Homecoming Pain (For those of you who don’t know me, might not really know that I have a secret (ha!) love for Skarmy Of Darkness).

This cd rocks. That’s pretty much all you really need to know. Skarmy, to say the least is amazing. They’re a “ska-core” band, once quoted by the Flywheel as being: “Western Mass Ska-Punk fury.” These guys write music and they know how to play it, it sounds simple yet brilliant. Their songs are catchy, with lyrics that are creative, some that are slightly amusing, like Glass Joe is Dead, which is about a video game: “30’s lives 30 ways to die. S.O.D.’s on the warpath again yea, Its all us fuck Captain N…took it too far glass Joe is dead…” and others that are more on the “serious” side, like one of my favorites, Scene Unity: “Whatever happened to unity? One powerful united scene? Who died and made you king? You poison everyone the attitude you bring. What happened to unity? One powerful united scene? Who died and made you king? You poison everyone, everything. I'm sorry we played some shows, I'm sorry we tried our best, I'm sorry we practiced hard. I guess we failed your scenester test…” Homecoming Pain is a powerful mix of ska and punk, and is definitely one to stir the crowd.

Now I’d like to urge all you kiddies who have never heard Skarmy before or don’t have this cd go on out and buy one at a show (cd’s are pretty cheap, I think like less then 5 bucks) download their songs or even steal it from your mother, whatever you have to do.

I understand some of you are not located in Western Mass and may not have the opportunity to buy their cd at a show (which is most unfortunate). If you haven’t heard of my home boys, Skarmy, or are thinking of getting the cd, this is their e-mail address if you’re too lazy to jump to their site to get it (this is Joey Skarmy, e-mail him and tell him you want to buy a cd): skarmyofdarkness@yahoo.com

If you want to hear them first go to:
http://www.link2rock.com/skarmyframe.htm
When you get to the site click “Hear SKARMY” which should be located 7th down from the top on the left hand column of the site.

If those aren’t simple enough instructions for you..then….umm…too bad.
