This hard-working quartet from California have done it DIY style since the beginning. This band truly does everything for themselves, from promoting and booking to replying to fan mail.
I received this EP in the mail and popped it into my CD player. Before I listened to it, I had only heard a few NHOI songs and my expectations were fully met. Happy pop-punk with playful lyrics are the definition of Never Heard Of It's sound. The first track, 'Hard-Headed', has a chorus full of hooks that will instantly get stuck in your head. The second track, 'Dead Awake' continues the vibe. Track number three, 'Last Letter Read' is a bit slower than the rest of album. The last track, 'Feb. 31st' returns to the sound and style of the first two tracks. The hidden track is highly amusing, I suggest you listen to this CD until it stops. It certainly made me laugh for a while.
I really don't know what to say about this album. Some people call them generic pop-punk, but I think they add their own style to the vocals and music. They manage to maintain the same vibe and style throughout the album, without being monotonous, I can actually tell the tracks apart! The fact that they truly are a Do It Yourself band gives them extra points in my book. Fans of Allister, Home Grown, and the like would enjoy this EP.
