Here's a heads up for all you Anti-Flag fans unsure about checking out lead singer, Justin Sane's solo CD. All right, to put it simply, this CD is amazing. I, being also a huge Anti-Flag fan, absolutely love "Life, Love, and the pursuit of Justice". Those of you who picked up Anti-Flag's newest album, "911 for Peace" got the A-F records compilation, and heard a little of what was to come on "Life, Love And The Pursuit of Justice", and I must admit, after hearing those songs, I was hooked. It resembles a little bit of Anti-Flag, but it's more melodic, being just Justin Sane and his guitar. He seems to take Anti-Flag to a level it never really went to before, with a love song, some that are sad, some that are political, and some that aren't as angry. And I'm sure there's going to be a few of you who will groan with the thought of a love song, but it really is sweet, and with Justin's' vocals it adds a few "punk" elements to it. The song is called '61C (Days Turned To Nights)', "I'll catch you again some day on the streets of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania/Then again, maybe not....Then in the night/That light shown down upon you made you look like the star that you are/Driving you to the airport watching you walk off to the plane that did carry you away/You were to sad to look back to wave goodbye so I'm not going to tell you what you missed." I like this album because, while it might remind you of Anti-Flag, (which shouldn't surprise anyone) it also resembles a different side to Justin Sane. I also have to admit that I love this album because I love Justin Sane's voice, and this album also shows another side of his voice range. I can't stress more to you how much I like this CD; it's great from start to finish. So, if you're an Anti-Flag fan, or even if you're not, and you're looking for something different to listen to, check out "Life, Love And The pursuit of Justice" on A-F records.
Here are some sample lyrics that I liked from this album:
'For Pat' - "Walking these streets all by myself I don't care about anybody else/Cause sometimes don't you know that I just feel that way and sometimes I'm just so ready to strike out/And the people sit and stair from their main street terraces and coffee shops as I pass by/But they never say 'Hello' cause they could never understand all the foreign concepts in my mind/See, I'm thinking of the world/Where people stop and think for themselves/And I'm thinking of the world/Where people wouldn't fuck you for money/And I know, it's just a dream, but it's one I won't let go cause I'm so tired of getting fucked by you and you/And you and you."
'On The Streets Tonight' - "There are nights, when the sidewalks feel like, home/And the bright street light, is a crystal chandelier.....I'll catch you at 6/For some Chinese and some 80's kareeoke/And then we'll set up on the sidewalk/Where we'll sing our songs/All night long."
'The Youth Of The Modern World' - "Sometimes I feel so enraged, wondering if things will ever change/Why the hell does everybody have to buy into the game?/In a society that lives to work/And a government that spends more money on bombs then schools/No wonder the kids are always are looking for something new."
'We Found A Place (These Are The Days)' - "He was never called 'cool', no he never fit in, cause he thought for himself and he went against the trends/But the abuse at school, was finally setting in/Yeah/Till the day he found a place to go/With the other punk rockers at the punk rock show/Shoulder to shoulder with his new allies he forgot about school as tears came to his eyes/And he sang/These are the days/These are the days we will never forget."
