New taste with a fun attitude.
If there is one band I recommend to you that is definitely the Halo Friendlies. These women know how to rock throughout their debut CD “Get Real.” The twelve-track album is full of issues such as breakups, crushing, and even regretted leavings. The album is fun and very unique in sound, certainly a CD to add to your collection.
The first track on “Get Real”, 'Sellout', is only a taste of what the girls can do. 'Sellout' is also the first single off the cd and is a good way to introduce the album. It proclaims what happens when the tables turn and the woman takes charge in a relationship. “Was it something I said/That it went to your head that you can't buy/'Cause I’ll teach you right/I’ll teach you right” – 'Sellout'.
One of the more catchy tracks on the album, 'Just Like You', reflects a woman’s point of view and how she can be a much better person. Almost as if an anthem for females everywhere, bassist Ginger belts, "I don’t need someone to tell me who I am/I don’t need a lot of words to help me understand/That I’m just like you only better.”
On of my personal favorite tracks, 'Nice Guys', can be recognized as a very truthful song. The chorus stating “Nice guys wait/Nice guys wait/Nice guys wait way too long” can have many meanings to different people. This fun song will be one to get stuck in your head real quick.
The closing track, 'Unsaid Goodbyes', is the most serious track on the album. The acoustic guitar and sweet voice shows that the girls worked hard to make this song one of the best. The song tells the story of regretted breakups and unsaid goodbyes. It is one of the more popular songs on the album.
The only way to really experience how truly talented these women are is to pick up the album. Another great thing about the Halo Friendlies is how entertaining their live set is. If you ever get the chance I recommend you see them. Trust me, you will be amazed.
