Thursday's "Full Collapse" the next big thing?
Flipping on the CD player to the opening track "A0001," one might mistake the sound of Thursday's Victory records debut "Full Collapse" with the sleepy sounds of Radiohead. With it's dreamy guitar chords and the soft whispering of Geoff Rickly almost hidden beneath, it is a strange track to open to. But then again, Thursday is a strange band, and "Full Collapse" is not an album to sleep on.
Almost immediately the listening audience is launched into the heady screams a pounding drum beats of the bands first single "Understanding in a Car Crash." The song, one of MTV2's handpicked videos, is a perfect example of the New Jersey bands sound. Chaotic.
Backed by expert guitar playing by Steve Pedulla and Tom Keeley, with Tim Payne on bass and Tucker Rule on drums, Rickley's voice and lyrics are right at home. Tracks such as the darkly upbeat song "Concealer" are a perfect example of the genius that is Thursday. With lines such as "Cadence beats down on the tar, it sounds the same as your fists raining down" it is obvious this is one band with a lot to say, will you be listening?
