Fall Out Boy Review
By Robbie

Date: May 3, 2003
Location:
The Metro - Chicago, IL
Bands: Fall Out Boy, August Premier, Punchline, Jinxpack

It was another freezing night in Chicago and once again I find myself at the Metro. I got there too late to really hear the first band that played, but they were called Jinxpack. The next band that went on was called Punchline. They’re on Fueled By Ramen records and they really set the tone for the rest of the show. They got the crowd really going with their crazy dancing and constant moving around. I really enjoyed their performance just because of what they did on stage but mainly because they sounded great. August Premier was next. For those of you who don’t know, the lead singer (Chris) served a very short time as lead guitarist for Allister. They opened their set with the song 'Tuckered Out' which is an amazing song and just the right thing to get things started. These guys got the crowd going more than any band that played tonight which was another cool thing about them. Watching from above seeing all these people flying everywhere and getting pushed around is just the thing you want to see at a rock concert. They played a lot of new songs that they said will be released on a new album due out in July or August so check them out. Fall Out Boy was the headliner of this show because it was the release of their brand new album on Fueled By Ramen entitled "Take This To Your Grave". When I saw them with Allister a month ago I hadn’t really heard anything by them but immediately I was hooked. I couldn’t wait for this show any longer. They started off their set with 'Dead on Arrival', the first single off their new cd (great song by the way). FOB is probably one of the most energetic bands I’ve seen, which makes their show so fun to watch even if you don’t like their music. They swung their guitars around, jumped off the drums, and pretty much just went nuts. On top of all of that they sound awesome live. Not only was it the release of their new album, it was also front man Patrick Stump’s birthday. When they announced that some guy came charging out on stage and gave him a cake right in the face. That gave me the laugh I needed for the night. I highly recommend seeing August Premier and or Fall Out Boy whenever you get a chance because you’ll be seeing two high quality bands, and like what Peter Wentz said tonight, "This is real music."
