Haley: Where did the band name 'throne' come from?
Derek: We just randomly made it up when we started the band.... Then we changed it a few times, and came back to it again cause we liked it the best.
CES: Yeah, there’s really no meaning behind it.

Haley: Is there a song or quote that you really love, something that inspires you?
Derek: I’m not too big on quotes, I’m more into songs and music in general. But something that really inspires me as far as music is honesty. I’d rather hear a song that’s really trashy and might have some mistakes, rather than something glossy, and over-produced. Something that comes from the heart is really inspiring to me and just really good riffs!!!
CES: I agree big time, when something is too overproduced or too perfect it just makes you mad. MAD!

Haley: What is your biggest accomplishment as a band so far?
Derek: I think we all agree that our quantity and quality of our street teamers is our most valuable accomplishment. We have SO many dedicated street teamers, we wouldn't trade them for anything.

Haley: What is your favorite thing about being in a band?
Derek: Singing lyrics I wrote.
CES: I think one of the best things is being able to make CDs and having them forever, it’s like something you could always look back on and see how you have progressed or changed. And I love playing shows. Just the whole experience, especially when you take long road trips to places you are playing!
Haley: Least favorite? Derek: Rumors
CES: Atomic wedgies from people that hate us.

Haley: What is the last cd you bought?
Derek: I think I bought "30 seconds to mars" and "Craig David: slicker than your average" on the same day.
CES: Mine is “30 seconds to mars” and foo fighters, but the foo cd was for my mom, I already had it!
jUsTiN: The last ones I bought were the All American Rejects & The Ataris

Haley: What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you?
Derek: I don’t get embarrassed at anything!
CES: One time I farted when I was alone, and I was like, that’s so embarrassing, I’m really embarrassing myself here, I’m so embarrassed.

H: What can the fans expect from you next year, like new cds, any changes, etc.?
Derek: Hmm, hopefully LOTS of new music...whether live or on cd. And music that branches out more in all different directions.

Haley: What are your new years resolutions? (Sorry, that ones a little late.)
Derek: I never make resolutions.
CES: I didn’t have one either.
jUsTiN: My resolution was to make derek and CES start making resolutions.........i have not completed that task yet

Haley: Do you guys have any hidden talents?
Derek: No.
CES: I can eat spaghetti. It’s not really a talent at all or anything, but I can still do it. Oooooooo, and I have a knack for creating awesome catch phrases! Just ask Ric Clair.
jUsTiN: Sometimes I can chew gum and spit it out into the air and then catch it in my mouth again.... oh yeah, and I can kinda play the piano as well!! (but I’m better at the gum thing!)

Haley: What are your biggest influences?
Derek: Timeless music and musicians......i really aspire to bands like led zeppelin, who's songs can still give me the chills to this day. And songwriters/singers who really just have that "something", such as Kurt Cobain, Maynard James Keenan, etc.
CES: Great answer!

Haley: What’s something about you, people and fans would be surprised to find out?
Derek: I’m extremely sarcastic.
CES: I CAN actually hold a decent conversation when I’m in my prime! But I’m usually not in my prime.
jUsTiN: HAHAHA, oh you boys will never change!

Haley: What are your plans for the future? (College, the band, etc.)
Derek: To tour, and write good music until we cant anymore.
CES: Give birth to a walrus.

Haley: What kind of tuning do you use?
Derek: MOSTLY "dropped d", and then a half step down.

Haley: Do you see your style of music changing in your future??
Derek: I'm sure it will change somewhat, but hopefully we always keep that certain something that makes us, us.

Haley: What color are your toothbrushes?
Derek: Blue
CES: Blue and red, with Spiderman on it.

Derek: "30 seconds to mars"
CES: same. I just do everything derek does. Well not everything, but we like the same stuff!
jUsTiN: I am yet to own that cd.. But I do enjoy it when i hear it!! But as for the last one I bought, that was The All American Rejects.

Haley: Last song you listened to?
Derek: "Heartsong" - zwan
CES: “End of The Beginning”- 30 seconds to mars
jUsTiN: "California Girls" by David Lee Roth......long story

Haley: What was the last good piece of advice you got?
Derek: “do this interview for toxic or else i will kill all 3 of you" - Rick, our manager.
CES: hahaHA! Its true, he was holding a gun to our heads too.

Haley: What’s your opinion of "pop" bands?
Derek: Catchy music.
jUsTiN: I honestly think that whatever floats your boat is cool. Like if people enjoy listening to pop music more power to em! But I myself would much rather rock out to some quality rock music then pop any day!

Haley: Favorite superhero?
Derek: Wolverine
CES: Spiderman
jUsTiN: Fartman

Haley: Last dream you had?
Derek: Haha, last night i actually dreamed that me, Justin, and CES were race car drivers.
CES: I haven’t remembered a dream in like months!! It sucks!! I would love to have racecar dreams
jUsTiN: I had a dream that I was being chased by a wolf with a rabbit in its mouth... and it was like just about to drop the rabbit out of its mouth, and eat me.. But then the phone rang and woke me up...it was a close one

Haley: If you could say one thing to the fans, what would it be?
Derek: Thank you for ALL your support!! I love animals.
CES: seriously thank you so much! We have like the coolest people who come to our shows!
jUsTiN: I also would thank them sooo much for all the hard work and effort that our fans and street teamers do to promote us and spread the word!! Keep doing whatever it is that your doing kids!!!

Haley: What advice can you give future musicians?
Derek: NEVER focus on negativity from anyone....stay positive and focused on your goal, and all the other stuff will pass.
CES: play each show like it’s your last! And work your hiney off!
jUsTiN: I would say pretty much play shows as much as possible and just totally dedicate your life to it.. And if you want it bad enough, it will come to you...
