Eric: Tour is an amazing thing. Getting a chance to Play music in so many different parts of the country, and meeting some many awesome people. What's extra special about touring is the bands you get to tour with. Everyone involved is sharing something special together. The summer of 2001 Grover Dill went on tour with Showoff and Allister. All of us became best friends, and the entire tour was the most exciting experience of my life. I think it had a lot to do with the people that I was around. Since then Showoff sadly broke-up. I would do anything to go back on tour with Allister. There are also so many great bands out there, it makes it hard to choose. Homegrown are real awesome guys, I 'd love to tour with them.
Eric: We have had the opportunity to play some awesome shows. The last two years we got to play at the Meadows for the 104 fest. Sharing a bill with bands like Blink-182, Green Day is was ridiculous. Going out to Cali over the summer to open for No Doubt was just as amazing. But there was one smaller show that I'd have to say was my favorite. We once played a living room on a college campus. The living room was being rented out by the schools Rugby team. While we were playing the Rugby players were having so much fun rocking out with us. A little to much fun that they destroyed must of the walls and ceiling panels of their house.
Eric: At a young age I always wanted to play in a rock band. But what really got me motivated was going to shows on the weekends and watching local bands, and touring acts play. Before Grover Dill was even a band, we all used to go to shows every Friday, Saturday, and Sundays(matinee). Its pretty much the most exciting thing to do!
Eric: Well I actually came up with the name as a nickname I used for Zippi our drummer. The name comes from the movie 'A Christmas Story'. The little toadie character in the movie is named Grover Dill. He's about 3 feet tall and picks on kids twice his size. Zippi was the same way when he was a little sprout. Hehe sorry Zip!
Eric: If I wasn't in the band, I'd probably be writing a lot more and filming and directing my own low, low budget movies. I love film like I love music. Some day i hope to edit some Grover Dill tour and show footage together. There are a few pieces of film you can view on GroverDill.com, that I put up on our site.
Eric: I would love more than anything to be playing, and touring. I will always be writing music whether for Grover Dill or my own personal collection. I hate to say 'if', but if Grover Dill stopped being a band I'd see myself working more with film.
I've got this idea for a movie now, maybe some day I'll get it on film. Its about these 4 kids in a band... trust me, no relation to the dill.
Eric: Bands with Pete Dill-(i played guitar) Ridium, Five Finger Discount, Noodlebrain
Bands with Zippi-(i played guitar)Farfalla, Ruckus Children, Scream Cheese, The Lumpy Man Hole Covers(don't ask) Knumbskulls.
Bands without Dill members- Six Under Par (i played bass)it was a SKA BAND, and I once wore face paint in a Misfits cover band.
Eric: Right now Alternative Press is what I read. They cover a lot of what is going on in the punk rock, hardcore community.
Eric: Weezer, Rivers Cuomo is short of my idol. John Lennon was brilliant. New stuff I listen to now - Homegrown 'Kings of Pop', Midtown, The Used...
Eric: I always tie my shoe laces in double knots so i don't trip on them. I clear my throat before I get on stage, I get a lot of flem build up. I like stretch a lot. And I always make sure my band mates are all ready to play, and they aren't having any problems. I also tend to be really quiet, but I'm not sure why that is.
Eric: The sky is the limit. Grover Dill works as hard as they can to get any open spots we can on any big tours that come through Ct. But any local band knows its a very hard thing to do, and there's a lot of times where you are told 'no'. But it doesn't stop us from working harder the next time. I'd love to open for Weezer, Green Day, Good Charlotte. Any show that would be beneficial for our band. The most important thing is to get our music heard.
Eric: There's been a lot of talk of a Punk rock campus invasion tour. It would cover all parts of the country, and some Canada dates. This summer we will be on tour for sure. We are all excited to get back on the road.
Eric: You are the ones that make our live shows so incredible. If everyone is having a good time together, we'll but on our strongest show. We are also writing and demoing songs for our New Cd! In the past we've recorded records with 6-8 songs on them. This new one, which is already my fav, is looking to be 10-12 songs. Its fast, its loud, its us. We are working harder now for the band than we ever have. Expect tons of shows happening up til the end of the year, and much more in the new year. We hope to see you there! Take care of yourselves
